Powys: Loose Parts play

We’ve had a lovely and busy first few weeks in Dosbarth Powys. This year in Nursery we will be driving forward the Loose Parts play initiative. This allows the children to play with a variety of materials that they can move, manipulate, control, combine and change throughout their play. It enables the children to experiment without a predetermined outcome or ‘right’ way to do things.
We are therefore beginning a loose parts collection that the children can use. I have already started collect pieces but our collection is a bit on the small side. If you have any bits you could donate, we would be extremely grateful. There’s a list below of some of the parts we are looking for:
Crates
Pipes
Glittering
Logs
Pine cones
Feathers
Large walnut shells
Wooden curtain rings
Bark
