We have had another brilliant week of learning and experience including a visit to Park Hall Farm’s trenches. The children were able to build on their prior knowledge and learnt so much more to bring back to class for their work.  This week we have also been investigating shadows in science, multiplying and dividing, cooked camp fire bread in forest school and talked about how we show respect and kindness in our RSE lessons. 

Another fun week of learning in Dosbarth Caernarfon. We have started our new science topic by exploring our resources to ask questions about light. We have been lighting fires safely in forest school, sculpting poppies out of clay in preparation for Remembrance Day, writing letters to loved ones from the war and even had time to learn how to play rounders! We have also explored Harvest themes in RVE and in maths we had a very successful peer teaching session with our year 6s who helped us consolidate our maths learning so far.

We can’t believe we’re half way through this half term already! We finished our trench shoe boxes this week and explored our local area and got creative in Forest School. In RVE we made lamps as part of our exploration of light. We’ve also been loving our PE lessons:  exercise is fun!

Another great week in year 4 and 5!  We have started making our shoe box trench models, had a creative time in forest school, analysed art work depicting World War 1 and became experts in column addition.

What a lovely first two weeks we’ve had! Our new class has settled so well and we’ve really enjoyed lots of team building games and getting to know each other. We’ve had a brilliant forest school session, revised our maths skills and have already jumped enthusiastically into our new topic “World War 1”.  We’ve learned so much about life in the trenches, we have designed our own trench models, created replicas in Minecraft, made our own propaganda posters and we are hooked on our class book!  To end the two weeks we’ve enjoyed Roald Dahl Day with lots of activities including a live ICT lesson!

What a busy week! We had a Tudor Day and took part in lots of different activities including art, craft and baking. We held our summer fair and enjoyed the fire engine visit! We ended the week with a soggy forest school. We never let the weather stop us enjoying being outside. We built shelters, made mud pies, lit a fire, ate s’mores and used our outdoor shelter to craft in while it rained around us!
